Qualifying: On our very first flying lap we go under the track record. We follow it with an even faster second lap, which puts us straight on pole position!
Sprint Race: A great start, we keep the advantage from pole position and immediately set our pace. We set a new official track record, even faster than our qualifying time. Just after half distance, with a gap built over our rivals, we hear a strange noise in the right-handers, when the sidecar is loaded on the sidecar wheel. It feels like a puncture, but the noise disappears completely on the straights. We keep pushing, but have to slow our pace in the right-hand corners. Despite our rivals closing in, we manage to keep enough of a lead to take the chequered flag as winners! 🏆 This win clinches the World Championship title before the second race even starts! 🌍🥇 After the race, we finally discover that the noise came from the sidecar wheel bearing, which had failed.
Gold Race: A good getaway from the grid, we keep the advantage from pole position. On lap 2, race control deploys the Safety Car following an accident. After two laps the Safety Car comes in and the race resumes. We string together fast laps and win this second race too! 🏆
