Arriving at the legendary Assen circuit for the 5th round of the World Championship.
Qualifying: After a series of flying laps, we take pole position ahead of the British Christie crew.
Sprint Race: We make a good start and manage to keep first place! The Christie pairing is right behind us; they attack at half distance but make slight contact with our sidecar and run wide. We manage to keep the lead despite this small coming-together... Now it's the Finnish/British crew following us. We manage to keep a small gap and take the chequered flag as winners.
Gold Race: We keep our pole position advantage and start stringing together fast laps. Shortly before half distance, we are passed by machine 34 and then 44, dropping to 3rd, a second behind. Lap after lap we close in on our rivals: we pass the Finns under braking at the end of the straight, then a few laps later make the same move on the British pairing... We're back in the lead. We stay in front all the way to the chequered flag.
A perfect weekend with pole position and both wins. We leave the Cathedral of Assen leading the championship by 11 points over the British team.
