Here we are at the first round of the World Championship in Germany, at the Sachsenring. There are 19 crews for this new season!
Free Practice: It's Harry's first time at the circuit; I had already raced here in 2018. We string together laps and gradually raise the pace. We set the second-fastest time behind the Birchall brothers.
Qualifying: After a few suspension changes, we improve our time. We're on pole for much of the session but are pipped by British pairing number 16.
Race 1: A great start, we take the lead from the first corner! The Birchall brothers pass us again before the end of the first lap. We can't mount another attack, so we finish second in this first race.
Race 2: Same start as the day before, we lead out of the first corner. Sidecar number 16 is right behind us; they attack halfway round the lap, but we get back past to keep the advantage. So we complete the first lap in the lead. At the end of the second lap the British pairing takes the lead. We find ourselves fighting for second place with the Kershaw/Charlwood pairing. Another crew joins the battle, the Christie brothers, and there is contact with them. At half distance we attack that same pairing, but we lock all 3 wheels and spin… We string together fast laps and fight back to 6th place.
