We arrived at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on Thursday, and the rain was there from the very first sessions.
Qualifying: Qualifying takes place in the rain. We are on pole for much of the session, but the Ellis/Clément pairing sets the fastest time by 0.4s. In the second qualifying session, lap times are slower as the rain is much heavier.
Race 1: An excellent start, we take the lead from the first corner! The Reeves/Wilkes crew catches up: they are faster in sector 1, we are faster in the next two. The gap varies between 1.4 and 2 seconds. We put in a very good final lap and win the first race 2.3 seconds ahead of machine 77.
Race 2: A less good start than the day before, but we hold second place. At the second corner we slide wide but rejoin the track immediately. The fightback begins! Unfortunately, a little later a collision between two competitors forces race control to show the red flag. The race is restarted and we line up in our qualifying position, 2nd. The first lap is intense, with lots of wheel-to-wheel action. The four-way battle continues to the last lap, and we finish 4th, just 0.5 behind the leader!
